Bumped up Security

I finally decided to add a nice new bouncer to my chalkboard to cut down on Spambots. He's friendly to nice people. But doesn't like it when someone steal his bamboo.

Feel the Strength

So, I've got a bit of a dilemma. I finally got the press release to send out to the media in the area for Stories of Strength. The idea is to send it out to get the media buzzing and get the word out there. My problem isn't who to send it out to. That's all done. But when to send it. The book drops November 1st at the publisher's website Lulu.com for $15.95US. I could A) send it out tomorrow to catch that wave next week. OR, B) Send it out in a couple weeks when bookstores can actually order it themselves because it would appear on their systems.

I'd normally choose A) then remind people to visit their local bookstore to carry it. The con for this choice is that I'm leaving on my Honeymoon in less than a week. So if any of the media wants to get in touch with me, I would be completely unreachable to give them any further details until I'm back on the 14th.
So I'm leaning towards B) and wait until I return. Maybe it wouldn't coincide with the rest of the country's release but it would still be out there and sales are sales. Plus bookstores would order it when people ask for it instead of having to wait after hearing about the release. And, at least, I'd be reachable. Tough choices.
I suppose there's always C) be a wimp and do nothing. But I won't do that.
I'll keep you posted.

Only 72 Days Before Christmas

And you know what would be the PERFECT gift! How about a nice shiny new anthology? I think that would be cool too. Glad you agree. The website for the book called Stories of Strength is finally up and running. Check 'er out. It's pretty professional. Better than this pseudo-psite. Not to say I don't like my site here. It's just...well, go check it out.

Special shout out to my friend, Chris...y'know who y'ar (cuz I said your name)...who just landed possibly the sweetest job know to man besides a video game tester. On Monday, he starts his new position as a guy who updates scores on a website. So what he basically does is watch sports all day and when someone scores, he pressed a button to update the score. And here I am watching sports for free!!! I'm such a fool.

Deadline!

Alright, so I've been given until November 5 to finish the first third of my novel. That's a lot of time...maybe. Considering I've been working on the blasted thing for about 2 years in it's current form. I swear the Great Wall was built quicker. Rome? HA! If I was left in charge, I'd still be figuring out how if the Colesseum should be oval, or square. Meanwhile, in every part of the world, instead of saying "Rome wasn't built in a day" it would be "Rome? Are they still workin' on that thing? Where's my pizza?"

I've got the plot worked out and I know how it's set to go. So technically I've written the whole thing except one thing...I haven't. Laziness and procrastination are my only real excuses. I could go on all day but I don't wanna!!!! So, I've been given a deadline.

As of this moment, I've written and rewritten 40 pages since the beginning of the month. I figure there's another 70 to go. And...what date is it, Bearded-Monkey? The 12th? No problem. I think.

Anyway, you may notice the new addition on the sidebar. It's a link to a site about the book I'm going to be in. The graphics are courtesy of the friendly people at Absolutewrite Forums. And yes, I figured out how to add a link to pictures now. So my power spreads like a Roman aqueduct. Too soon to say Empire...but it's coming. Afterall, it wasn't built in a day.

How do you ride your wild horses?
